It’s the Life Creative presents, Inside the Studio, a series of very special live format events bringing Philadelphia a different type of experience. It’s an intimate experience between you, the fan, and your favorite artist. Inside the Studio provides the setting for a beginning of an understanding of WHO an artist truly is and what the factors are that led them to excellence in their craft. Whether presenting deejays, producers, emcees, visual artists, musicians or any other discipline, Inside the Studio is proud to spotlight Philadelphia artists who are recognized for what they bring to their craft and how they have taken that craft a few steps further affording them recognition all around the world.
Our first Inside Studio of the year is all about Kindred the Family Soul.
Philadelphia fell in love with Aja Graydon and Fatin Danzler’s love
over 10 years ago when you could catch them on any given Tuesday at the
Black Lily, a mecca for most of the Philadelphia “Neo Soul” all-stars.
With a full band, equipped a horn section, Kindred expressed their love
in a way that didn't just romanticize, but also humanized and celebrated
the love process. Belting out lyrics like “Loving you is a dance, the
rhythm of life, and if theres a chance I'll want you 'til I die”.
However, for the rest of the world there was another song that brought
them into Kindred’s love web, Far Away.
Heads across the world nodded in a agreeance as Fatin sang, “ I'm tired
of broken street glass, not getting no a**, unless the babies sleep...”
On February 20th, 2011 It's the Life Productions goes Inside the Studio and behind the love with Kindred the Family Soul. The singer/songwriter couple,who release their fourth album, "The Great Recession" this year, will
give us the story behind living, working and raising six kids together -
all while filming a reality show! So come, sit down, relax and meet us
at Warmdaddy's as love school starts it’s first session guided by your
host, Laiya St. Clair.
To guide this experience, Inside the Studio consists of three ladies. Resident deejay, DJ Afrodjiak, a well known selector
on the Philly scene who not only spins a special tribute set for the
event, she also hand picks songs and creates the podcast mix as well. Laiya St. Clair, a Philadelphia radio and television personality who uses her passion for arts and culture to guide us through the layers of each artist. As an acquaintance of many of the artists featured on Inside the Studio, Laiya will lend a unique air of discussion rather than your typical interview as well as keep the vibe comfortable for the artist and engaging for the audience. And last but not least, Flygirrl is the
executive producer, managing everything from the promotion to the
visual artists, to the event itself, making sure each piece of the
puzzle is exactly where it should be.
To visually set the tone for the stage, Visual Art will be featured by Tone Casso, Mantel Amey, Tatyana Fazlalizadeh + more
! Inside the Studio takes place at Warmdaddy's, a comfortable yet cool setting with ample free parking behind the venue. Comfort food, cocktails and good conversation with various talented Philly Legends and Legends in the making. Nothing more, nothing less. Keeping the vibe comfortable and engaging, there will also be a brief Audience Q&A.
